Public Education

The Council Bluffs Fire Department's Public Education Office was created in response to the many requests and opportunities to deliver fire and life-safety educational programs to the citizens of Council Bluffs and the surrounding areas.

It is the goal of the Public Education Office to reduce the incidence and severity of accidents and/injuries due to fire and weather-related emergencies through education and awareness

To meet this goal, we are proud to offer many different programs and activities designed to educate all populations within our community.

Partnering with other city departments such as the Police Department, Parks and Recreation, and Community Development, we are able to teach fire and severe weather safety in a manner that is fun, yet informative.

Some of our programs we are currently using include fire safety talks to civic and neighborhood organizations, pre-school programs such as Lil' Squirt and Woody, extinguisher classes offered to businesses and other groups, and elderly fire safety talks.

We are also highlighting our Fire Safety House, a 32' trailer designed to teach residential fire and severe weather safety to all age groups, from children to adults.

If you have any questions regarding any of our programs or would like to schedule an event, please contact the Public Education Officer at the Fire Marshal's Office, (712) 328-4671.
